NY Passive House
Tomas O’Leary is a co-founder of the Irish Passive House Academy, an accredited Certified European Passive House Course Provider and Trainer and a Director of MosArt Architects.
He will be presenting on his extensive experience with Passive House construction in Ireland, and will present with a special focus on:
- Retrofits (gut rehabs)
- Window fitting details, in terms of thermal bridging,
- Non-Domestic Passive House projects
Events will be free for NYPH members (join now at NYPH) or $5 for the general public.
Whilst he began his professional career as a Landscape Architect, he developed a keen interest in Passive House in 2002, culminating in building and living in Ireland’s first Certified Passive House since 2004.
He is accredited by the Passivhaus Institut to certify Passive House projects, a founding member of the Irish Passive House Association and has been promoting Passive House not just in Ireland but also in the U.S. as well as China.
At the start of the Meetup, there will be a 15 to 20 minute presentation, "Introduction to Passive House" – for those new to Passive House.
The "Introduction to Passive House" will kick-things off promptly at 7pm.
The feature presentation will start promptly at 7:30.
(Feel free to show up just before 7:30 if you are already familiar with the basics of Passive House.)

Justice fiscale pour la construction passive

Vous m’aviez demandé il y a quelque temps s’il était possible de réaliser une pétition sur l’injustice fiscale que constitue la non-prise en compte de l’habitat passif.

En effet, au regard du législateur français, l’habitat passif n’existe pas. Et pour la construction passive, les seuls mécanismes de bonification de déduction des intérêts d’emprunt passent par l’obtention d’un label BBC contestable, contesté et nettement moins performant. Or, ce dernier prévoit une régulation des températures des locaux pièce par pièce, ce qui est absurde dans une construction passive. A défaut, aucune aide n’est accordée.

Einfach gesagt, geht es beim Passivhaus darum, die vorhandene Wärme im Haus zu halten. Konkret heißt das: Durch gute Dämmung der Wände und Vielfachverglasung der Fenster verzeichnet ein Passivhaus nur geringe Wärmeverluste. In der direkten Konsequenz: Weniger Heizen – Energie und Geld sparen! Passive Wärmequellen, wie Sonne, Haushaltsgeräte oder die Körperwärme der Menschen fungieren als „natürliche Heizung“, deren abgegebene Wärme durch nahtlose Dämmung im Haus gehalten wird. Ein intelligentes Lüftungssystem sorgt für frische, im Winter angewärmte Luft – nicht nur Allergiker und Asthmatiker profitieren davon.
